With a little patience your cat can learn too! It took about 2 weeks for my tabby cat to connect all the dots. He’s over three and we have not trained him on anything before. Started with taking his paw and pushing the button so he could get a treat. After about a week of that I noticed he was clawing at the machine to get into it so I used packaging tape to tape the button to the top. After about 2 days of that he figured out it was the button and was using it 100%. I gave him a couple days like that and then took the tape off and moved the button right next to the machine. After reminding him twice to use the button and not the top he now uses the button. I can move the button anywhere where he can see the machine and he will use it. Now, he presses the button over and over to get a lot of treats out at once before he bothers to walk over to it. The only thing I don’t love about this is you have to size the slider on the dispenser inside to let the treats fall out. Sometimes it gives none and sometimes it give a lot! Wish there was a better way to get one at a time. You have to give the position reinforcement when they are learning but I don’t want him to get fat!Love this little guy for making my wicked smart Labrador puppy use her brain to eat. I set it for the smallest opening in order to release the least amount per rotation, it drives her nuts but the engagement factor is great! If you have a pup that eats way too fast or needs to burn a little mental energy, this is a great option.Mine came missing the tray attachment but that doesn't stop us from utilizing it at all!My senior chihuahua mix loves using this enrichment feeder. He already knew a “touch” command, so getting him trained on it has been pretty easy. He hasn’t gotten up to having the button more than 4 or 5 feet away from it yet, but I am sure with time he will get more used to it. If I needed to have a complaint I would say that cleaning the tray is a tiny bit annoying, and I would love it if it could be fully removed to be cleaned.Keeps our dog engaged and is a good entry point to start learning how to communicate with buttons as it teaches them how to push a button for something in return. Overall really great product, had no issues, sometimes it clicks but usually either the treats are lodged or just needs a little assistance. If you're debating this, give it a try, your dog will love you for it!If you need validation on how smart your pooch is, get this product. You will be dazzled by your canine companions problem solving skills while you move the button from one room to another and then become cocky and hide it under blankets. The only downside is when I learned that we had to limit the toy to special occasions as our dog wonder was refusing to eat her regular meals in her plain ol' bowl. Love this product!I like this and it works, but the button does make noise whenever it was pressed. This terrified my dog. However, it was relatively easy to disconnect the noisemaking part and it still works.works as advertised no complaints, took my dog about two days to figure it out now he loves itDog learned how to use it quickly. She has enjoyed playing with it. We enjoy letting her run down her energy level. Treats can get stuck sometimes.Well worth the money it tires out my high energy dog
