We have been 100% happy with this purchase.Assembly was not bad at all. I did take other recommendations and sprayed every metal piece with Rustolum to prevent rust. I will say, just be careful not to over spray the screws as I did. I had to sand it back down so they would fit. After I finished assembling the goal, I sprayed it down again. So far we have seen no rust as others have complained about. This is a heavy duty goal with a full size rim. Kids(10-12 year olds) run off the side of the pool to dunk on it. It’s too tall for them to dunk on it inside the pool, but perfect for a good game of basketball. Even for adults. It has held up extremely well our first summer. I HIGHLY recommend this basketball goal!We bought this system 7/31/2016 and it has FINALLY succumbed to rust at the base. We will be purchasing a replacement of this same brand for next year. We have a salt pool, and live in the Southeast. While I wish, it had lasted 10 years, 6 wasn’t so bad, even the original net lasted the entire 6 years. Paid $130., so about $40.00 a year, not bad. Stayed out 24/7 and never pretreated it. The next one, we’ll probably pretreat and see if that extends it’s life. I must add, we have a garage metal sink, a chest freezer and a fridge, and all of them have some degree of rust, and the insulated garage doors are always closed; our appliance rep, suggested using car wax, to inhibit rust. Overall, very satisfied.Great for poolside fun. Heavy duty construction. Grandson (who is 12) loves itThis product is a lot of fun but after a few years the primary metal pole has started to crumble down at the bottom where everything connects. It is next to a saltwater pool.I called the company to see if the pole was covered by any warranty. They said that it was not and that they had heard of this issue happening with the product. They do sell the pole separately but with the cost of it plus shipping it’s almost worth just buying a completely new system. The first one I ordered never showed up and was refunded. Then I had to re-order. Two weeks later I got the second one. I bought the led rim light on Amazon. Looks killer at night. My husband and sprayed it with clear rustoleum in hopes it last a long time. The kids and teens love it!After reading reviews, I picked up a couple cans of clear rustoleum and thoroughly coated all metal parts prior to assembly. The only problem I encountered was one bolt was smooth, not threaded as needed, so a pause and quick trip to the hardware store was required (would have given five stars otherwise). Assembly is not a one person job, but instructions were adequate and with two people it went fairly quickly. Seems to be sturdy and no rust so far. Would recommend for anyone looking for a moveable pool basketball goal.Got this for my Dad for Fathers Day. 74 years young and he LOVES it!I bought this product with low expectations, in light of all of the negative reviews surrounding rust problems. I live in Canada and rusting is a fact of life here. The roads are salted in the winter and folks like me, who keep their non-aluminum vehicles for 10+ years, end up driving rust buckets after 5 without yearly rustproofing. So with that in mind, I used a rustproofing agent generously during assembly, as well as several times during the season on all exposed metal bits and where rust was starting to form.I should add, I have a salt water pool and the net was at its side for an entire season (May - October), out in the elements.I waited to the end of the season to write this review, so that I could asses how well it would hold up after a year of abuse. The photos provided were all taken at the end of the season.Assembly: It went fairly smoothly. My only complaint would be the lack of a spacer to prevent crushing the upper support tube, where the backboard attaches to it. Without this spacer, you can’t tighten the assembly sufficiently to positively secure it in place. A few shots and it loosens up. I ended up manufacturing my own from a piece of aluminum tubing, as seen in the attached photos. I think this type of spacer should be included in the kit.Durability: Surprisingly good for backboard and net. It has seen a lot of use this season, probably in the range of 10k+ shots with COVID lockdowns and working from home etc. It’s held up to quite a few very powerful backboard shots, where I thought it might shatter. The base is surprisingly effective at holding it down, no issues with it moving from shots or wind.Rust: Definitely an issue, as seen in the photos, but not a deal breaker with preventative measures. It is not to the point of compromising structural integrity after1 season, as others have claimed. I think with proper maintenance it should last at least 5 seasons. Proper maintenance includes winter storage in cold climates; for instance I take all major components apart, apply a rustproofing agent and store it in the pool shed protected from the elements. In warm climates, it should be regularly inspected and rustproofed.Value: beware of price fluctuations. I paid 599 and at the time of this review it is listed for 399 and you can have it for 349 with a discount coupon. For the current price I think it’s a steal, for what I paid, an OK value.Would I buy it again: Yes, knowing that I can expect 5 years of service with proper maintenance. I would probably time my purchase differently to get a better deal off season.4 Stars overall.rust like crazy the first year. Only last one season. Those who say "rustoleon paint before use" say that this thing can't survive at all near a pool. So piece of junk, the company should make their system water proof around pools don't you think?Great basketball net but beware of rust from all nuts and bolts and pole.. rust has stained our coping around pool. As a water use product it should be fully rustproofMy kids love this net! It's quite large but perfect, especially for older kids! Nice and sturdy. We did spray the metal pieces with clear rustoleum before we put it together just to make sure no rusting occurs. Worth every penny, hours of fun!Lots of rust in less then 1 year. Stored inside in the off season. Not happy at all with purchase. Paint coming off and rust underneath it. Bolts rusting. DONT BUY!
