After turning on, no need to long press, the light will be very sensitive to react what you set. ( very Important!!!) For underwater using, please keep the remote within 10FT/3M-16.4FT/5M, because water will largely absorb signal, and weaken the signal to the lights. I can’t get these to work this season. I put batteries in a couple of them and they came on right away but the remote would not turn them off. Then they randomly shut off after a few minutes and I can’t get any of them on again.We have a steel walled liner pool, so it's great that you can use the built in magnets to hold them in place. However, after using twice, the magnets are already rusting. That rust will absolutely stain the liner, so don't leave them in for extended periods.PoolI'm so mad about these lights. I bought two boxes to put around my apartment bathroom and shower. The lights are an inconsistent 50/50 at best on whether they will respond to the remote. Sometimes smacking them a few times makes it work, sometimes not. Sometimes they'll turn on but not off, or get stuck on the wrong color or setting. On top of that, once you put the batteries in they're too heavy for either the magnets or the suction cups to hold up, and you can't use both at the same time. So disappointedItem is advertised as submersible; however, it is not waterproof. Batteries corroded after 1st use. This could have proven dangerous / toxic, had I not checked them after the 1st use.The kids like the way the lights looked in the pool, but they are not very bright. I may put them around the pool for future use, however not what I wanted from this item.These lights will not stay stuck on our pool surface. We put them up on pool cage, still occasionally fall down. The lights themselves are beautiful, suction is not good.First problem is you will likely need to tap or twist the light in order for it to work so only useable where they are accessible. Since I got them to put in a pool they need to be collected from the water to turn them on. Even when turned on the remote will not work once the lights are 2 feet under water. The suction cups will not hold.These were great for the one night they stayed attached to my pool tile. The suction will not hold, and one of them did not seal so the battery rusted it out. I closed it correctly but water still got in. Returning because they are not usable for me.
